Special Awards and Trophies

Judges Champion Awards

The following awards are selected by the Judges of the Annual Competition:

  • Champion DPI - Selected from the Champion Monochrome DPI & Champion Colour DPI
  • Champion Monochrome - DPI Selected from first place Monochrome DPIs in all sections and grades
  • Champion Colour DPI - Selected from the first place Colour DPIs from all sections and grades.
  • Champion Monochrome - Print Selected from first place Monochrome Prints in all sections and grades
  • Champion Colour Print - Selected from the first place Colour Prints from all sections and grades.
  • Champion Print - Selected from Champion Monochrome Print & Champion Colour Print.

Entrant Nomination Awards

Members may nominate any two images for each of the following awards:

Most Human Interest Monochrome
  • Media: Open to images in all media (Prints & DPIs).
  • All images must have been exposed by the owner
  • Images are to be marked with a conspicuous RED dot on the print label and the HIM box marked with an x on the print or DPI entry form. Only 2 images can be selected for HIM. Note: This is a Monochrome only award.
Best Owner Processed Print Quality
  • Media: Prints only
  • The print must have been printed by the Owner. Wet-process and prints from digital images are allowed.
  • Not open to any commercial print method.
  • All images must have been exposed and printed by the owner.
  • Images are to be marked with a conspicuous YELLOW dot on the print label and BPQ box marked with an X on the entry form. Only 2 images can be selected for BPQ.
  • Best Print Quality: Is shown by those prints with the least evidence of the print process itself. I.e. an image that shows least evidence of the mechanics of being printed. Examples include: pixelisation, colour banding, loss of dark or light detail, colour casts, smudging, and scratches. This award is for owner printed work only.
Best Digital Print
  • Digital prints only.
  • May be printed by the owner or an external print laboratory.
  • Images are to be marked with a conspicuous BLUE dot on the print label and BDP box marked with an x on the entry form. Only 2 images can be selected for BDP
Most Artistic Photograph
  • Media: Open to images in all media (Prints & DPIs).
  • Image must be considered ‘Fine Art’.
  • Images must be marked with a conspicuous GREEN dot on the print label and MAP box marked with an x on the Print or DPI entry form. Only 2 images can be selected for MAP.
Wet Process Awards
  • Indicate on the entry form if your print was developed using ‘wet process’ techniques so they can be considered for awards that are restricted to Wet Processing.
