Entry Requirements of Digitally Projected Images (DPIs) for the Annual Competition

Submission of DPIs

Entries may be submitted by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or on a CD / USB which can be given to the DPI Director in person.
If submitting entries on a CD, the disc must be finalised (not rewritable) and clearly marked with the entrant’s grade and membership number. Files are to be placed into separate folders for each subject.

An electronic version of the entry form must be included on the CD/USB or attached to the email.
Entries are due on or before midnight on Monday 24th October 2016

File Size & Labelling Requirements for DPIs

Digital entries must comply with the following format:

  • maximum width (horizontal dimension) is 1400 pixels
  • maximum height (vertical dimension) is 1050 pixels
  • file must be in sRGB JPEG format
  • maximum file size is 1Mb per image

Naming for each subject is as follows:

Nature Nature
People / Portraits People
Creative / Experimental Creative
Social Documentary / Photojournalism SocDocPJ

Naming for each special award is as follows:

Award Award Abbreviation for Filename
Human Interest Monochrome HIM
Most Artistic Photograph MAP

Filenames must use the following formats:

[Subject Abbreviation] _[grade]_[title]_[member number].jpg

[Award Abbreviation]_[grade]_[title]_[member number].jpg

DPIs that are entered for special awards must be entered twice.

Example:

Jane Bloggs is a “B” Grade entrant with member number 999 submitting an image named “Four Trees” into the Pictorial Mono section and also in the Most Artistic section. Jane would enter the image twice using the following filenames for this image:

Mono_B_Four Trees_999.jpg

MAP_B_Four Trees_999.jpg

Harry Ferguson is an “A” grade entrant with member number 888 submitting an image named “Riotous Behaviour” into the Social Documentary / Photojournalism section. Harry is nominating this image for the Human Interest Monochrome award, so he would enter the image twice using the following filenames for this image:

SocDocPJ_A_Riotous Behaviour_888.jpg

HIM_A_Riotous Behaviour_888.jpg

 

Barb Newman is an “AB” Grade entrant with member number 777 submitting an image named “A Winters Day” in the Creative/Experimental section. She would use the following filename for her image:

Creative_AB_A Winters Day_777.jpg
