Competition May

Set Subject: Emotion

Images Due: Monday 8 May

Competition Night: Monday 22 May

Emotion is a state of consciousness in which feelings of love, joy, happiness, surprise, calmness, inquisitiveness, sorrow, fear, disgust, hate and the like are experienced. A photograph can depict emotion(s) in the subject(s) and/or it can evoke emotion(s) in the viewer of the photo. Capturing emotion(s) in photographs is about capturing moments in time that hopefully tell a story or encourage the viewer to imagine a story.

Photos with emotion convey a mood or an atmosphere and pull the viewer into the scene; they tell or encourage a story and tug at the heartstrings. Photos with emotion may transport the viewer to another time or place, or evoke certain feelings that make them engage with the photo.
