October Outing - Hunt & Shoot
Sunday 8 October
Bring: camera and as many accessories as you think you'll need and be able to carry. Pen and notepad will be handy.
Arrive by 1pm, competition starts 1.30 and will finish by 4.30
The Hunt and Shoot is designed to challenge you! You'll need to capture 12 subjects using only 24 exposures within 3 hours. It is a race of creativity, lateral thinking and ingenuity to encapsulate the essence of the subject.
Non-members win 1 year BCG membership
Members win the coveted Hunt and Shoot trophy, awarded at the Annual Dinner.
How it works
The twelve subjects are not known to the competitors until the day of the shoot and may be defined subjects or broad topics which require lateral thinking. Only digital cameras may be used. Participants have their first image camera number logged at the start of the event and only the first 24 consecutive image numbers may be used as part of the competition. Memory cards must be presented to the Organiser for validation and for downloading of the images onto the Organiser’s laptop no later than the nominated end time of the competition. If you finish early "well done"!
All images are to be shot in jpg format.
All competitors are given the list of 12 subjects and at the specified time are allowed to commence photographing.
No post-production of images is possible as the images supplied at the completion of the competition will be used for judging.
Once you have provided your 24 images to the Organiser you head home for a few days (or less) contemplation about which of your 24 images best match the 12 competition topics.
Email the Organisor with your list of image numbers that correspond to the Hunt and Shoot topics. Here's an example from a previous year:

The entries are impact judged by a panel of three judges. The judges are either BCG judges, who have not taken part in the competition, or external judges.
This is a fun afternoon that will test your skill and creativity. Come and join us!
