Exhibition and sale of prints by BCG members to aid the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital - UPDATE

As mentioned in the 9th March Short Notes, BCG wishes to have greater engagement with community groups to assist them by using our photography skills and/or the images we capture. The first of these engagements will be an exhibition and sale of prints by BCG members at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital to help in raising funds for the RBWH Foundation.  The Foundation raises funds to help purchase equipment or support research at the Hospital. The Foundation regularly has art exhibitions there to raise funds. The exhibition will be officially opened on 3 August 2018, with the prints on display for the whole of August.

Changed final date for submitting DPIs of possible images for the Exhibition: NOW 9 June  (previously 16 June)

Please submit your DPIs via the BCG website in the special 'competition' that has been set up (Competitions > Submit Images to a BCG Competition > Royal Brisbane Hospital Exhibition). Image requirements are the same as for normal DPI competition images.

Details of the Exhibition, process for image selection and printing etc and the timeline for submission of DPIs and high resolution images is in the Selection Process Document available on the website.

There is no cost for members submitting prints to this Exhibition.  The Club will pay for printing and matting of all images selected for the Exhibition. Prints that are not sold during the Exhibition will be returned to the members at the end of the Exhibition (i.e. after 31stAugust).

So, please dig into your libraries and submit some DPIs of images you would like considered for the Exhibition. Remember, when selecting your images, keep in mind they need to be ones that people may be interested in buying.

Luke Ballard - Judge for May Competition

The judge for our May monthly photography competition was Luke Ballard. Besides running his own photography business, Luke produces photography accessories in his company F8 Stuff (www.f8stuff.com).

Luke not only did a great job of judging our images, but he also supplied two wonderful prizes for Print of the Night (won by John Lomas) and DPI of the Night (won by Peter O'Brien). Luke presented a camera bag and camera strap (retail value over $400) to both winners. I am very appreciate of the ongoing support Luke continues to give to BCG through his presentations, judging and sponsorship.
